If
your budget is limited (as it is for most people), you'll
have to decide in advance where you can cut costs and where
you can splash out. Remember, an abundance
of punch is infinitely preferable to a miserly measure of
champagne!
Traditionally,
the cost of a wedding was divided between the bridegroom
and the bride's father, but these days there are often other
yardsticks. The division should be made according to circumstances.
If the bride earns a good salary, she could feel that she
would like to make a greater financial contribution; if
the bridegroom is well-off, he would, perhaps wish to pay
for certain things that would in the past have been paid
for by the bride's father. Perhaps you and your fiance'
have been saving jointly for some time to pay for your wedding;
it could also happen that your in-laws offer to pay for
the entire reception. Everyone's situation is different.
The
traditional division of expenses is as follows:
Whether you choose an exciting dance band complete with
male and female vocalists and a horn section, an elegant
smaller band or a DJ package, try to see the entertainers
perform live
at a showcase or other event. There is nothing like getting
the real feel of a performance by previewing the entertainers
in action. Most importantly, have fun shopping and planning
for the most significant and exciting day of your life!
