Bridal Shower Tips

Planning the Bridal Shower

Typically, bachelor parties draw most of the spotlight when it comes to wedding planning. Parties for the bride to be can also be very important in order to send the bride-to-be off properly. In order to put a bridal shower together, some planning is needed. Generally, the more planning that has taken place, the smoother that events will go. This article is designed to provide an overview for what to do if you are in charge of sending the bride-to-be off by throwing a bridal shower party.

Co-ed showers are growing in popularity, and can ease the tension as the bridal party not only carries out their duties as attendants, but also has to get to know the people they are spending the day with. Break the ice early with a picnic, barbeque, ski weekend, beach party, or even a scavenger hunt. The better your bridal party knows each other, the more fun they'll have on your wedding day.

When you are considering what to do for a bridal shower, consider the personality, likes, and interests of the bride-to be. If she would not appreciate a loud and boisterous night, then don't do a loud and boisterous night. Moreover, you should also generally not plan the bridal shower the night before the wedding. Otherwise, the bride can be stressed about preparations for the day tomorrow and may not be vigilant and alert in order to make the last minute preparations.

The person throwing the bridal shower will typically send out invitations that will arrive a couple of weeks before the party. You may want to make sure that the guests that you would like to have show up will attend. You should generally try to limit the number of guests to ten to 15 - this is an ideal number. Otherwise it can be a logistical nightmare making sure everyone is in one place. If you have more people, you should develop a schedule.

Often the shower is a time when friends from all stages of the bride's life meet for the first time. Make it a sharing time when each of her friends can share their fondest memories of the friendship they've shared. Have each shower guest bring a favorite photo of a time or event they shared with the bride, and compile them in a special scrapbook as a heartfelt gift for her.

Whether co-ed or traditional women only, the bridal shower can be more fun with a theme. Make it a casino night, a pool party, or a beauty make-over. Gift themes are also fun and can be personalized for the bride. Many people elect to take the bride out to a bar or club in order to give her "a last night on the town."

Whatever activity you choose, be sure to encourage the bride-to-be!
